My already enormous appreciation for Otomo swells with each panel more than the last.

I’ve came to the conclusion that BARTKIRA is the best possible result for an Americanized Akira. With the film adaptation, set in New Manhattan, dead (thank god) this project gives new legs to a horrible idea and makes it something original in its own right.

I feel this is the first creature of its kind. BARTKIRA has become a collaboration, an homage, a mash-up, and for me, a learning experience, with no hope of ever making a fucking dime. I’m also enjoying the hell out of it. Looking forward to seeing its completion.
